The Face Hunt Game
We often happen to shift from one place to another. We walk in a hurry. We run. We take the bus, the tube, the train, the plane. We move across space, but do we move through it? Do we stop to notice our surroundings or have we simply become immune to them, while constantly focusing on our final destinations?
My project is intended to show that the city offers endless possibilities as a playground for the contemporary human, who is still a homo ludens. The rules of the game are simple and anyone wishing to break away from the daily routine can play. First of all, it takes attention. You have to pay close attention to your environment, to look around carefully. But that might not prove enough. You also have to bend your knees and look closer, in search for a better angle, or, on the contrary, you have to step back to take in the whole image. You might even have to flip the images in your head to get them.
'Them' - the faces. Sometimes smiling, grinning or winking, human or animal-like, larger or smaller. The city surrounds us with face-like figures, in search of which one can count on one faithful helper: the camera. The lens focuses on them, bringing them closer or farther, putting them into perspective and making them more visible to the human eye.
